We’re usually not one to brag (says the company that brags about every new feature we put out)...

… but we’ve been named to Inc.’s Best Workplaces list for 2024! 🎉

All jokes aside, it’s an honor to be included for the fourth consecutive year — we know it’s a reflection of the hard work and dedication that our team puts into our product and customer experience every day.

Because we know that becoming a best place to work doesn’t happen by accident. It’s not a popularity contest, and it’s certainly not something that happens on a whim.

It takes intentional effort and commitment, but it is achievable for any business. So, we want to share the top five reasons we’re confident we’re a best place to work (along with some resources to apply these strategies in your own business):

1. We hire top performers.

“Teamwork makes the dream work,” right? Meaning that any great company is only as strong as the people who are in the thick of things day after day.

So, we raise a glass to the number one reason for our success: our high-performing team. They’re the ones who make our software as good as it is, while also providing the best service to our customers. And if we add our other departments to the mix — the ones who find prospective customers, manage our people, streamline our daily operations, and more — then bam! You’ve got a group of very talented and hard-working people who truly make our company what it is.

But the stork didn’t just drop them off at the Trainual doorstep. We know being a best place to work means surrounding our employees with other high performers — so, that’s who we hire.

Our dedicated hiring team has a proven process to find our next top performer — one that continuously adds the right people to our team.

👉 Want to institute a better hiring process at your business? Get started with these templates:

2. Our leadership team is unmatched.

This one feels like a no-brainer, but it still needs to be said: We wouldn’t be a best place to work without the guidance and example of our leadership team.

And no, we’re not just trying to suck up to the boss — it’s true. Think about it like this: Leaders set the tone for company culture, foster innovation, and inspire employees. It’s almost like a game of follow the leader — the team looks to leadership for examples of success, and we try to emulate that (subconsciously or not).

Great leaders also communicate transparently and build trust with the entire team. No one wants to be left in the dark — especially when careers are on the line. That’s why our leadership team is so clear on the core values and leadership foundations that define our business — it gives everyone a clear understanding of how our leaders actually act, whether we seem them all the time or not.

And when employees see their leaders leading with integrity, enthusiasm, and a clear vision, it creates a positive atmosphere throughout the organization. A strong leadership team is essential for building a vibrant and inclusive work environment where employees are engaged and motivated.

Doesn’t that sound like a best place to work?

👉 And if you’re wondering how to institute these own practices in your business, why not start by documenting the leadership guidelines that define your org? Good thing we’ve got templates to get you started fast:

3. We do onboarding like no one else.

If you know Trainual, you know that we pride ourselves on helping companies onboard their teams quickly and easily. Because a good employee onboarding can prevent losing employees to turnover, increase your new hire productivity, and save you hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars.

And we’re not just here to talk the talk. We’ve built an onboarding program that proves we walk that walk. (Otherwise, how embarrassing would that be?)

So, our team has built an onboarding experience that welcomes new employees, prepares them for their roles, and gets them invested in the Trainual culture from day one (our people operations manager Tara Montoya talks about it all in this podcast episode!). And of course, all their training is done through Trainual!

👉 We believe every business should invest in offering a great onboarding experience — no matter if you’re aiming to be a best place to work or not. And we won’t gatekeep the secrets to onboarding success, which is why we offer these free templates:

4. We’ve built our company culture by design, not by default.

Remember how we mentioned that becoming a “best place to work” doesn’t happen by accident? That’s because we wanted to focus on how it happens with intentionality — especially when it comes to company culture.

When we say we built our company culture “by design,” we’re talking about how we’ve put in the work to create a company culture that’s in-line with our core values and feels comfortable for every single team member.

We wanted a tight-knit team that feels good about being honest with each other — which is why we introduced feedback training for every employee. We wanted our employees to really bond and get to know each other outside the confines of everyday work — which is why we prioritize an annual company retreat away from the office. This sort of culture doesn’t just happen organically; it needs a little action on our part to make it happen.

👉 Your company culture is going to be unique to your team, your leadership, and what you’re trying to accomplish. But, to help you define what it could look like, you can start with these templates:

5. We’re always improving.

Being a best place to work doesn’t mean that we found the secret sauce and can coast from here on out . In fact, we’d argue that we make the list year after year because we’re always improving. Let us explain:

We’re a growing company and proud of it. We hire top performers because we want their help to take us to the next level — and we want them to grow with us. So, we improve our operations to make things just slightly more streamlined, or we introduce new tools and resources to make our employees’ lives easier. And because we’ve created an environment where improvement is the norm, our employees know to expect it in all areas of the business.

We’re all supporting each other to grow — to scale the company, expand our reach, and help our employees develop their careers. Basically, win-wins all around.

👉 Improvement starts at your foundations — AKA, the processes that run your daily operations. So, if you’re looking for a way to introduce continuous improvement to your organization, documenting and improving your processes is crucial. Here are some templates that can help:

Whether you try to implement one of these changes or all five, remember that becoming a best place to work is all about getting better for your employees every day. And who knows, maybe we’ll see you on next year’s list. ⭐️
