Introduction

Why We've Compiled This List

At our company, we believe in fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development. To support this, we have curated a Recommended Reading List, featuring insightful books handpicked by our business leaders. This list is a valuable resource for team members keen on enhancing their knowledge, skills, and understanding of various business aspects, from leadership and innovation to strategy and personal growth.

We understand that everyone has different preferences and time constraints, so we want to emphasize that reading these books is not a mandatory requirement. Rather, we view this list as an enriching tool for those who are eager to advance their careers and broaden their perspectives. These books have been selected for their relevance and potential to inspire new ideas, offer fresh insights, and provide practical advice applicable to both your professional and personal life. We encourage you to explore this list at your own pace and discover ideas that resonate with your career goals and aspirations.

General Business

The Alter Ego Effect by Todd Herman

What it's about

This book is about creating your own personal alter ego that lets you accentuate the values, skills, and inherent "superpowers" that we already have inside each of us. Yeah, we know that sounds a little corny, cheesy, and goofy, but it's some pretty solid stuff.

Why it's on the list

We added this one after reading it for our monthly company book club. All of us found a lot of great insights that actually made a notable difference in our day-to-day lifves, both professional AND personal. Since it was an all around win for everyone, it made sense to share it.

Why you should read it

If there is anything you wish you could do better, it's probably very likely that you can. This little alter ego strategy helps you apply your actual skills, not made up ones, to achieving what you want to. It's simple and actually a lot of fun!

Process Documentation

The Business Playbook by Chris Ronzio

What it's about

This book goes through the entire framework of what it means to actually document your business. It outlines how to build the profile of your business, the people who work in it, the policies that guide it, and the processes that operate it to codify your business culture and create a living document that allows business leaders to let go of day-to-day responsibilities and empower your team to run the business without you.

Why it's on the list

We absolutely believe in the importance of documenting all the processes and policies that run our business so that employees can feel empowered to continue improving our operations.

Why you should read it

Documentation doesn't come naturally for everyone — by reading this book, we hope that you will better understand what it actually means to document the processes that come with your role. Plus, it'll give you an excellent guide for how we have been documenting everything in our business.
