About Employee Classifications
What are Employee Classifications?
Employee classification is the process of categorizing employees into different groups based on their job duties, responsibilities, and level of authority. This is typically done to determine the type of employment status and to determine eligibility for benefits, compensation, and legal rights.
Under this policy, our employees are classified into one of three categories:
- Exempt.
- Non-exempt.
- Temporary.
Why We Have an Employee Classification Policy
Our company values the diversity and unique contributions of our employees, and we believe that implementing a clear and fair policy for employee classifications is an important part of recognizing and supporting their diverse roles and responsibilities. As such, we have implemented an employee classification policy.
We encourage all employees to familiarize themselves with this policy, and to contact their manager or human resources if they have any questions.
Classifications
Exempt Employees
Exempt employees are salaried employees who are not eligible for overtime pay, and they are typically exempt from certain labor and employment laws, such as the minimum wage and overtime requirements. Exempt employees are typically management, professional, and administrative positions.
Non-exempt Employees
Non-exempt employees are hourly employees who are eligible for overtime pay, and they are subject to the minimum wage and overtime requirements of labor and employment laws. Non-exempt employees are typically hourly positions such as production workers and customer service representatives.
Temporary Employees
Temporary employees are employees who are hired for a specific period of time, and they are not eligible for the same benefits and protections as regular employees. Temporary employees are typically hired to fill temporary gaps in staffing, or to support short-term projects or initiatives.
